Janamashtami – Celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna: Janamashtami celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna. Ashtami is significant as it indicates a perfect balance between the seen and the unseen aspects of reality; the visible material world and the invisible spiritual realm. Krishna teaches us devotion with skill. To celebrate Janamashtami is to imbibe extremely opposite yet compatible qualities and manifest them in your own life. Hence the most authentic way of celebrating Janamashtami is knowing that you have to play a dual role — of being a responsible human being on the planet and at the same time to realize that you are above all events, the untouched Brahman.

The growing unease and conflagration in the Korean peninsula has taken a new shape with the world renowned spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar making a fervent appeal to the leadership in North Korea to give peace a chance.
In his statement Sri Sri declared that his time and efforts are fully available to the United Nations, international governments and the community to forestall an unnecessary conflict and make ways for a renewed understanding in the committee of nations.
He urged all countries to exercise utmost restraint and responsibility and avoid man-made calamities at all costs. He urged Heads of State, law makers, legislators and diplomats to consider a new ethos in international relations that is founded on tolerance, compassion and dignity for all.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar started his historic discourses on the timeless Upanishads a few years ago. Literally translated as “sitting close together”, the Upanishads are a body of Knowledge that deeply explore and illumine the realities of the mind, consciousness and the Universe.
