BANGALORE: Every Indian must dedicate one hour to the nation every day. This was the message of the volunteer movement launched by the Art of Living (AOL) Foundation on Sunday.

Two projects, rejuvenation of Kumudavathi River in Bangalore Rural, and enrolment of 10,000 youngsters from 150 colleges in electoral rolls, were launched as 4,000-strong crowd cheered on. While the audience chanted Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s name, the spiritual leader simultaneously launched the movement at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi.

“We can’t work amidst corruption. People – especially women, children, artistes, dalits, minority communities and others – don’t feel secure in the country. We need to get to the root of the problem and fix it,” said Sri Sri, on a live telecast from New Delhi.

It’s time that we, the citizens, volunteer to shoulder responsibilities and be a part of the solution. Volunteering is a passion kindled by “humanness”. It is action on the ground. Volunteer for a Better India (VFABI) is a call of every citizen to make things better and to give a better society to the coming generation. VFABI is a call to give one hour of your precious time to set things which you think are not right. It is the call of the hour not to blame our society, but to plunge into action. It offers a platform to every Indian to channelize talents, voice, opinions and emerge as a leader, and more over a responsible citizen.

Be a volunteer and be the agent for change!
